What is a combination boiler?
Combination boilers - or combi boilers for short - are the most common boiler in the UK. As you may have guessed from the name, they combine both the central heating boiler and water heater in a single unit, making them highly efficient. The beauty of a combi boiler is that water is heated from the unit itself rather than from a conventional copper cylinder boiler, which is usually found in the airing cupboard and takes up an awful lot of room.
What are the benefits?
Savings are significant without the use of the storage cylinder. It also gives you the option to install a high pressure "power" shower without an additional pump as hot water is delivered at mains pressure. However, please note the rate at which the water heats can be ever so slightly slower than a conventional boiler.
Installation of gas appliances is extremely dangerous and it is illegal for anyone who's not Gas Safe registered to work on any gas appliances. On top of this it may also be wise to check them out on Checkatrade to read other customer reviews and comments. Our links to these pages can be found in the header, go check us out.
Poorly fitted or maintained gas appliances can lead to gas leaks, fire, explosion and carbon monoxide poisoning.
It may be hard to believe but inhaling carbon monoxide can lead to serious illness and in some cases death. Gas Safe engineers found up to 12% of gas appliances they checked were not up to standards and required immediate attention.
If you're experiencing any headaches, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness or loss of consciousness then you should visit your doctor and get a gas engineer to inspect your home asap.
